Applications
| |
Though aerospace and real estate development applications are
two dominant uses of curved metals, there is also a large market among
retail manufacturers. Consider some other end-products now using curved
aluminum: the automobile industry, for example - truck and RV fenders,
bumpers, carlines, wheel wells and grill frames. Other products
utilizing curved extrusions are sign frames, escalators, rolling doors,
even dishwashers.
|
|
Some examples of architectural applications include barrel vaults, store
fronts, solariums, railings, skylights, dry wall retainers, curtail wall
assemblies, archways, flashings, sightlines, and instant structures. The
aerospace industry finds uses for curved metals in aircraft skins,
cowlings, stabilizers, nacelles, fillets, fairings, frame members and
canopies. Aerospace production is being performed at our facility and we
are able to do the work required, and maintain the tolerances necessary
to comply with the industry. |

Profile |
|
|
|
|
| |
The variety of shapes and cross sections that can be stretch
formed is almost unlimited. Curtain walls, window systems, skylights,
store fronts, signs, flashings, walkway enclosures and hand railing can
be accurately and precisely formed to the desired profiles. Bend-Tek,
Inc. can form to close and consistent tolerances, with minimal surface
marring, no distortion or ripples and no surface misalignment of complex
profiles. Most architectural metals can be stretch formed including
aluminum, steel, copper, stainless steel, galvanized and certain brasses
and bronzes.
|
 |
Profiles can include tubes, open back
glazing sections, brake shapes, angles and channels. Materials to be
stretch-formed should not be notched or drilled prior to forming. Some
poured-in-place thermal barriers are not suitable for stretch forming,
due to its brittleness. Paint materials should be of a flexible
composition similar to a flour polymer coating such as Knar 500 or
silicon polyester (50% silicone). The suitability of anodized material
for stretch forming depends on costing quality and severity of radius.
Some discoloration may be apparent in tight radius forms.

Bend-Tek can form
aluminum extrusion in most tempers, however if the radius required is
very small or the profile is very large we may have to have the material
annealed. We would advise the customer if this becomes necessary. Bend-Tek
is capable of forming any length up to a maximum of 30 feet. Up to 12
inches of extra material length will be required at each end for grip.
Typical material forming turn around time is two weeks or less from
receipt of client's materials, purchase order and forming instructions. |
 |
If necessary,
because of size or complexity our production time can be confirmed or
adjusted at item of price quotation. Due to the nature of stretch
forming each project is quoted individually. Order and pricing
information is available from Bend-Tek by telephone, fax or email.
